Workshops

I offer two workshops. A landscape tree and a weathered barn. Photos, descriptions and a link to the supply lists follow. Both workshops cover the following information.

Traditional quilting involves cutting little pieces of fabric and sewing them together in a pattern. Landscape quilting has some of the same elements. We still use small pieces of fabric and sew them together in a pattern. This quilting may involve glue and fusibles. But generally, it is not a repeating pattern—which is what I really like about this kind of quilting!

I will take you through the process of making a landscape quilt. We will talk about

• photos and what to capture in the photo
• how to get a photo ready for the pattern
• making the “canvas”
• building separate elements
• building the background
• adding details
• quilting the design, thread painting
• finishing

Fees:
Barn Workshop (6-7 hours) $450
Tree Workshop (3-4 hours) $400

Workshop 1: “Landscaping with Fabric Not Dirt”

Description of Barn Workshop

We will be making an old barn on a background. You can choose some of the elements you want to include or leave out. The workshop supply list gives more details on what to bring and some choices you can make.

The nice thing about this kind of landscape quilting is that it is “easy” AND challenging. By breaking down the steps, I’ll show you how to use your photos to make your own amazing landscape quilts.
